An eerie scene of a house backed by white pines catching glints of light from an unknown source. Light emanates from the windows, obscured by curtains, and from the skeletal bushes creating shadows on the house. As the painting began to take shape, I loosely recognized the house as the face a Luna moth that scares away predators. That subterfuge is interesting— related to Rorschach, which I guess is what this painting is to me. Thinking about the appearance of a home versus the unknown of what goes on in one, a mystery between the interior and the exterior, and the mystery of a moth.
