I cut this clipping out of the NY Times when I was a paintmaker and the recognition of myself in this image was instantaneous. This image, which comes from one of Agnes Varda's films, reminded me of my grandmother who passed away in 2020, and was ready to join her husband who passed a year prior. I was really interested in how this figure could be running away or running towards.
